I think Linus said it best when he proclaimed “Happiness is a warm blanket, Charlie Brown”. The only thing I would add is that happiness is a warm blanket and a long nap. I love naps and taking naps. I always have and probably always will. With my naps I have to have a blanket, regardless of how hot it is. Not just any blanket, MY blanket. Yep, I have a favorite blankie – there, I said it!
My friends know of my love of naps and my favorite blanket and thus began teasing me. However, this relentless ribbing led to the discovery of Project Linus and the work they do for children in need of the warmth and security of a good blankie.
Having an invention that is patented and has reached the marketplace grants me the title of an inventor. However, my days are spent sewing, knitting, crocheting, smocking, embroidering and tatting – as well as woodworking. However, sewing and knitting are my two favorite hobbies that I thoroughly enjoy and find myself engrossed in on a daily basis. Because I have been given these gifts I seek ways to use them in a manner to give back. Hence, why I have become a blanketeer for Project Linus.
As the Bagwell community continues to grow, we constantly witness the immense gifts and creativity of those around us. Therefore, we call out to the community to join us in our mission to provide blankets for children in need of the warm comfort of their own handmade blanket. You can join me as a blanketeer to make blankets for the children. In fact, chapters all over the country are coming together on February 18 for Make a Blanket Day! What a great way to spend a wintery Saturday!
Perhaps knitting and crocheting aren’t in your comfort zone, that’s ok! There are many ways to become involved and help provide security and warmth to a child in your community. However, you choose to participate, we simply ask that you do.
Knit on my friends!
