Here at the Bagwell we are committed to preserving Mother Earth and reducing waste. Hence, we wanted to share a few ideas on how to better protect the land we love this Earth Day.
- Did you know there are over 10 million tons of clothing waste in our landfills? Our desire to sport the newest fashion trend is having an impact beyond our bank accounts. Therefore, finding better ways to discard or reuse our clothing is important. When your children outgrow their clothes donate them – neighbors, churches, daycares – there are plenty of options! If you no longer like your clothes, or they no longer fit, why not have an office rummage sale. Be honest, you’ve always loved your cube mate’s style – now you can have it!
- Your child has outgrown the toys cluttering your home but you aren’t certain what to do with them? Yep, been there! Sure, you can list them on a Facebook swap group but that can be a pain. Why not donate them instead? Find a local shelter and let that little Teddy Bear your daughter no longer snuggles with find a new buddy to play with. Also, keep in mind your local day cares and churches as they are always seeking donations for the littles in their centers.
- If you, like me, grew up in a frugal household you may have witnessed your mother rinsing, drying and reusing her plastic baggies. I remember thinking how crazy she was and would chuckle at the sight of baggies drying in our dish rack. But alas, turns out mom might have been earth friendly while also saving a few bucks. Rather than discarding those baggies, follow mom’s footsteps. You can use your Bagwell to dry the baggies and get a few more uses out of them – save the earth and your wallet! But don’t stop there, remember to reuse those store plastic bags as well!
- Lastly, in honor of Earth Day we have created a fabric bag designed to fit the Bagwell. This is great for the playroom, garage, or any room that needs a little organizing. These bags are reusable, fashionable, and you can use some of the fabric you have laying around your craft room. You can watch our tutorial here!
